​On July 3, 2023, Louis and Peaches Owen Heart Hospital at CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances became the first hospital in Texas to successfully implant the Optimizer Integra CCM-D System into a heart patient. The new dual cardiac device treats patients with heart failure symptoms.

The implantation was part of a clinical trial by Impulse Dynamics. Researchers are using the trials to evaluate the efficacy of the Optimizer Integra CCM-D System, which concurrently treats arrhythmia and heart failure.

The device leverages two therapies: cardiac contractibility modulation, which improves the heart’s condition, and a defibrillator, which corrects arrhythmias. The design enables the device to lessen symptoms of the two conditions, enhancing quality of life. The battery life, as long as 20 years, reduces the need for additional procedures. Researchers will collect data from 300 patients at 75 healthcare facilities in the United States over two years to test the device.

​CHRISTUS Health, a global faith-based health system, announced the opening of a new state-of-the-art corporate headquarters in Irving, Texas. The new headquarters will be based in a 15-story building on a 4.2-acre parcel in central Las Colinas.

A Catholic health ministry, CHRISTUS Health is a leader in designing innovative health and wellness solutions. Since CHRISTUS Health rented corporate offices in Las Colinas more than a decade ago, the number of associates working for the health system has increased from 30,000 to 50,000. ​An international Catholic health system, CHRISTUS Health recently inaugurated its new 15-story corporate headquarters in the Las Colinas Urban Center. This is the first high-rise office project in the area in over three decades. Nearly 2,000 employees will occupy the new building, expanding the health system's Irving headquarters by nearly a third.

CHRISTUS Health has experienced significant growth in recent years, nearly doubling its workforce since relocating its headquarters from San Antonio to Las Colinas a decade ago. The 460,000-square-foot tower was developed in partnership with Fidelis Healthcare Partners and is next to a 10-story parking garage and includes state-of-the-art amenities.

The building's unique design features a blue-tinted glass exterior and a 109-seat chapel on the first floor, reflecting the organization's faith-based mission. It also includes a heritage center commemorating the history of the three congregations that formed the CHRISTUS organization. Additionally, the tower will offer a third-floor common area, a large conference center, and outdoor terrace areas with views of Las Colinas' central business district.

The Irving city council offered economic incentives of nearly $4.9 million to encourage CHRISTUS Health to build its headquarters in Las Colinas. This demonstrates the city's commitment to retaining CHRISTUS Health and supporting local businesses.

Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center is a nonprofit Level III Trauma hospital founded in 1949. It offers a wide range of medical and surgical specialties, urgent care, and other services to South Central New Mexico. Gerald Champion chose CHRISTUS Health as its partner based on shared values and a mission of healing after considering 27 organizations. The partnership will allow Gerald Champion to leverage the strength of the CHRISTUS network, with increased investments in capital, recruitment and retention, and the expansion of innovative and clinical capabilities. Gerald Champion's CEO, Jim Heckert, will continue in his role under the new partnership.

According to the May 2023 Becker’s Hospital Review, Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center in Alamogordo, New Mexico, has declared intent to join the CHRISTUS Health System. Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center, a 98-bed facility needing capital improvements and clinical expansion, will rely on CHRISTUS Health in several areas, including improved employee retention and recruiting initiatives.

The signing will fall under the new CHRISTUS Impact Workforce Commitment. Becker’s Hospital Review, Fierce Healthcare, and Healthcare Finance have identified CHRISTUS as one of nearly 20 national health systems to follow the pledge to ensure that at least 10 percent of all new hires come from communities that are economically disadvantaged.

​Paul Generale joined CHRISTUS Health in Dallas, Texas, as senior vice president of financial operations and ambulatory services in 2011. He has served as the executive vice president and chief strategy and network officer since 2016. In August 2023, the Christus Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler, Texas, announced the unveiling of the Hope Monument. Funded by retired OB/GYN physician Dr. Sutliff and his wife, Lydia, the monument serves as a memorial to children who have lost their lives as a result of miscarriages, traumatic deliveries, and accidents. As Dr. Sutliff described it, losing a child within a clinical context was “the saddest thing . . . encountered in otherwise usually happy situations.”

Designed to facilitate healing and self-reflection, Hope Monuments have already been installed at about 30 locations nationwide. Dr. Sutliff successfully contacted the sculptor directly to have one made for the East Texas community. For years to come, it will give parents a sense of hope that they exist within a greater plan and will someday see the child they grieve for again.
