Christus Health’s Athletic Trainers Play Key Role in East Texas

​Experienced healthcare executive Paul Generale leverages his educational background and over two decades of industry experience to inform his role as the executive vice president and chief strategy and network officer of Christus Health in Dallas, Texas. Paul Generale handles Christus Health's new acquisitions, ambulatory and post-acute services, and its employed physician enterprise and health plan products.

Christus Health is a Catholic faith-based health system comprising 350 health facilities and services in Louisiana, New Mexico, Texas, and three Latin American countries. One of these health facilities is the Christus Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Institute in East Texas. This facility employs 50 full-time athletic trainers that serve close to 35,000 athletes from school districts, colleges, and universities around East Texas.

According to Christus' clinic athletic trainer Joe Ayres, the Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Institute's athletic training program constantly expands. Christus Health has the largest group of athletic trainers in East Texas. They work as one team, discussing and brainstorming the athletes' injuries and the appropriate treatment plans for each case. Ayres said that since joining Christus eight years ago, he has continued to learn new ways to do things from his peers.
